New Custom Kitchen Cabinets: How Custom Design Personalizes Your Space— Whether you’re building a brand new home or remodeling your current space, there’s no better way to truly personalize your space than by having custom kitchen cabinets designed, built, and installed.
Sure, you could keep those boring old stock kitchen cabinets in your home forever and make do with the way they’re laid out and organized… but you could also make a one-time investment into brand new custom kitchen cabinets and enjoy all of the convenience, flexibility, and improved aesthetics of a design that is exactly suited to fit your needs.
To learn more about the benefits of custom cabinet design, take a look at these photos of completed Schoenberg Construction kitchen cabinet projects to see the kinds of beautiful, innovative solutions we can create for you.
In a large room with an open floor plan like the home you see pictured above, it’s especially important to keep kitchen cabinetry contained to a single section of the room so that the living area doesn’t feel cluttered. However, storage space is equally important—and every homeowner still wants to have plenty of room for pots, pans, dishes, and food.
In this custom kitchen cabinet design, we were able to achieve both needs by making use of vertical space and by integrating appliances into the cabinet design. Rather than taking up separate wall space for the oven and refrigerator, both appliances are conveniently built into the cabinetry with extra room for more cabinet storage located above. This simple storage solution is a wonderful way to create a kitchen cabinet design that is both practical and aesthetically pleasing at the same time.
When you opt for custom kitchen cabinets over pre-designed stock cabinets, you also have complete creative control over the colors and materials you’ll see every day in your kitchen. Check out the huge difference between these two photos:
Light-colored cabinets give the appearance of a brighter, larger space, while dark woods add drama and elegance to a kitchen design. Homeowners who prefer clean, minimalist designs may love the simplicity of the first kitchen, while homeowners who prefer for their kitchens to feel warm and home-y will appreciate the heft and grandeur of the second. And even though the aesthetic material choices of these two kitchen cabinet designs couldn’t be more different, we really love how functional both spaces are. Each of the kitchens pictured above have multiple drawers, cabinets, and pantries where the homeowners can easily store and comfortably access all their kitchen supplies.
We also love to create kitchen cabinet designs that add extra functionality in unexpected places. Check out the two photos below:
In the first photo, we added several small shelves to the side of a cabinet—offering the homeowner a perfect place to store often-used glasses, a favorite family photo, or a stack of beloved cookbooks. Similarly, floor-to-ceiling cabinetry with lots of divided cabinets and drawers offers plenty of room to easily organize cookware, dinnerware, food and non-perishables, and more.
You can see a similar use of floor-to-ceiling cabinetry storage in the second photo—but what we really love in this one is how extra space was utilized by adding more cabinets to the interior side of the kitchen island, as well as on the diagonal corners of the kitchen counter. Stock cabinets often waste these valuable storage opportunities with dead space—but by opting for a custom design, the homeowner easily maximized the available room and added plenty of extra storage.
And though they aren’t pictured in these photos, there are also tons of other options you can add to your custom kitchen cabinet design to bring more flexibility and convenience to your home. Consider the benefits of options like pull-out drawers inside your cabinets so that you can easily access cumbersome pots and pans, built-in storage racks for extras like china and wine, and under-cabinet trash and recycling bins.
